Unless of course you actually read the instruction book supplied with this neat little digital recorder.
My partner is using it to record conversations/interviews as part of a course that she is doing. It works perfectly for this and the controls are quite easy to master if, as I've said you read the instructions first.

This is an excellent value piece of kit which performs exactly as described. I use this for recording meetings of up to 50 people and it picks-up very clearly, anyone anywhere in the room, although you will need the addition of an Olympus Microphone ME-52 for the best results. The ability to download and save the recording onto the PC is essential and brilliant. Operates on re-chargeable batteries. What a wonderful tool, small,pocketable, lightweight and very easy to operate. So far removed from the old-style 'dictaphone' pocket tape recorder of yester-year.

This excellent little machine does exactly what I bought it for. It has a wide choice of settings and adjustments to hone it to perfection - once, that is, one has got the hang of the controls. The only thing that lets it down is the paper instructions although comprehensive instructions are supplied as a pdf file.

Currently using this whilst conducting interviews for a research degree at Cambridge University. It is easy to use, great for transferring data onto your computer (with the lead provided) and my only regret is I wish I had bought one sooner. Have recommended this to both my colleagues and fellow students.

I am speechless at those who think that this has any problems.
The instructions, albeit short, are crystal clear and very, very easy to understand, so much so I am disgusted at those who have left feedback saying the instructions are rubbish. They even come with pictures so anyody can understand them. You could not go wrong!
There is a larger PDF format in the memory of the machine which you can view on your PC but you don't need them realy unless you're protecting files in the machine or changing to long play mode etc.
The microphone has no isues, it picks up voice clearly and precisely, even from those at distance the clarity is quite well captured.
It does the job, happily, without fuss and is easy to operate with 5 seperate folders which can each hold 200 files in total 70 hours of recording in Long Play Mode.
Drag and drop to your PC with the USB cable which is very short but it does the job. WMA format means all MP3 players can handle them with ease.
You will not want for a better unit than this.
