Great TV at a great price September 6, 2010 mrbob Great purchase at a great price for a full HD TV. One of the best features, which I didn't even know about before I bought it, was that you can plug in your USB memory stick/external hard drive into the side of the TV and watch divx/mpeg/etc. video (+ view your photos/listen to music).
Very cheap and a gamers dream September 3, 2010 Mr. D. P. Roach (UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Looking for a gaming TV look no further this ahs only 19ms of input lag vs 50 - 60ms for typical LCDS
Comes with a host of features and USB playback which at this price is absolute steal!
Excellent Media Player September 3, 2010 Robert M Render (Bournemouth) I would like to commend the media player built into this TV. You can plug a portable drive straight into the USB port. It can recognise both FAT and NTFS formats, so it accepts HDD drives as well as flashdrives.
It will play practically all files (SD and HD)including AVI MKV MP4 etc. (The only file it hasn't been able to play to date is an MKV file with embedded subtitle streams, fortunately these are not common)
It can handle separate SRT subtitle files and there is even a facility to advance/ delay the subtitles if necessary.
One press on the remote brings up the media player menu, which is nicely laid out.
You can fast forward and jump through playback to find the file position you want. If you have watched some of the film before and return at a later date, pressing the blue button on the remote returns you to the last watched position.
It's really useful to be able to control both TV and Media player from one remote.
I've pensioned off my stand alone media player and just use this TV instead.
Highly recommended.
Great picture but normal poor sound September 2, 2010 Chris Harris Great picture qualitity but can sometimes saturate the picture with blues or red hues to much. But as will most flat screens to speakers are poor. But I bought a Yamaha sound sound bar which solved the problem and inhansed the whole watching experence
Fantastic TV, fantastic service August 28, 2010 S. Bhandal (London) I was a bit hesitant about buying a TV off the internet as it may have turned up smashed or damaged. The TV arrived on time (ordered on Sunday, arrived 8.30am on Tuesday) and the set-up was very easy but...
The Samsung box was missing a set of screws which are required to attach the stand to the TV. As you can imagine, I was devastated that I had just bought a brand new TV which didn't work. I rang Amazon's customer service and spoke to a lovely gentleman who offered me a bunch of alternatives and was sympathetic towards my problem. He put me through to Samsung who delivered the screws within 2 days.
The TV itself is beautiful. It delivers an amazing picture and fits perfectly into a room that has a black theme. When screwed correctly, the stand holds the TV firmly in position. Some may worry that the TV tilts if you apply pressure to either side but I've read that it is capable of moving side to side. Personally I haven't tried this out of fear of snapping something but others are welcome to attempt it.
The only downside of the TV is that it only has one Scart (presumably used for Sky TV) so you may need to buy a Scart extension (or something along those lines) if you want to connect a DVD, PS3 or any other devices to the TV. I got around this by connecting my PS3 to the TV via HDMI and then using it as a DVD player but others may not have the HDMI cable. However, this alone wouldn't stop me from buying the TV.
On the whole, it is an amazing TV. When my old one blew up, I expected to pay £1000+ for a quality TV. Samsung not only compete with the top end TV's but they also deliver it at a bargain price.
Highly recommended.
Note - A lot of people also look for a stand to place the TV on top of. I bought the Premier AV HF0032 Plasma & LCD Glass Stand for £46.20 and found that the black finish perfectly complements the TV. I found similar products in Comet and Curry's but they sold for £80 and £90 respectively. Another great Amazon bargain!
