my recent purchace from AMAZON, was the slingbox solo from slingmedia,i have reseached this product for some time now and all the reviews and reports live up to there claims,if you want INSTANT TV anyware then go for this item the picture as others have remarked are not HD quality but more than viewable quality i have mine connected to skyplus so if you like your tv this is a must,the tech people at sling are very helpful and will assist if you run into any probs the set up is quite easy the only hiccup was with the router settings thats where the tech guys come in,you can watch tv on your ipod or smart phone but another advantage is you can also watch it on your pc in any room,the mobile version requires the software from itunes for about £18 but well worth it last but not least purchase this SLINGSOLO from amazon you get good service and no hassle i got mine in 2days how bads is that

I great item for receiving UK TV when abroad. I tried component with a Panasonic DVD recorder connected to the TV with HDMI, this is not recommended as it blocks the signal to the TV via the HDMI, changed to S-Video with no problems. My intention is to use the SlingBox when in Spain, if anyone has watched Spanish television they will understand why it's worth the money. Using the SlingBox means I no longer have to consider paying for a subscription service in Spain. I would recomend the SlingBox for anyone having a holiday property abroad, but you do need some form of internet connection there. You will need a good upload rate in the UK and a reasonable connection at your destination.

I have an apartment in Turkey where I spend six months of the year and not being able to speak Turkish well enough to understand there TV programs I thought I would give this a try and it works great I set it up on my Thomson Sky box at home here in UK and it was really easy.I can now watch Sky TV in Turkey change channels on my sky box at home. The remote is a neat idea its a perfect replica of the one at home which you can bring up on the screen and do all the things you can at home. I take my laptop out with me and receive the programs on that which in turn I connect to my TV with set of composite cables so I can wattch it on a 32" TV just like at home. I cant think of any cons but if you wanted to be picky it does take about 3mins to adjust when you first turn on picture is a bit jerky but after its settled down its as good as back home so I can only recommend this Slingbox a lot cheaper than the £2000 plus to get a 2mtr dish and all the other bits needed to get Sky out there.

I have been a Sling user for over 6 years now - traveling a lot with my job and having my Sky box liberated so I can view it anywhere in the world with a decent internet connection has been a life saver. However, I would warn other potential buyers that this product *can* be highly temperamental and also very unreliable. Over the years I have had 2 Slingbox Classics and 3 Singbox Pro's - original and then warranty replacements, as well as a replaced power supply and IR cables. When it works it is brilliant - when it doesn't - or when it goes wrong outside of the 2 year warranty, as mine just has, there is NO repair service available - so you either have to bin it or fork out for a new one. Sadly there is no comparable product on sale, so even though I loathe the fact that Sling just don't care that they sell such unreliable products I have no choice but to spend another £150 on a replacement and hope and pray it lasts longer than 2 years, otherwise the cost of ownership of this product is much higher than the purchase price alone would have you believe. Approach with caution advised.

I am sure this product is fantastic if you can get it to work.
When adding your slingbox you need to add a 20 digit code that represents your slingbox. Instead of them sending you it with the box you have to find it online ,transcribe it and enter it.
Mine is not adding so i dont know whether it is this number is incorrect or whether it is the connection
You should just be able to log in to your slingbox account and your slingbox should be there .
I also downloaded the iphone app and have the same problem
Now i will have to ring them when i have a day at home ,which is an expensive per minute call , am regretting this purchase
