well worth the price! August 19, 2010 A. Dalby I have worked with many TVs, and i can honestly say that this TV is the best 19" TV I have ever seen. The Picture quality is superb, the sound is great and it looks better than most TVs that are sold at the same price. If you can afford a larger version of this TV do so but if not do no worry as this is still a great TV.
I would easily reccomend this to any of my friends or relatives.
Great Purchase July 22, 2010 Ancat (Scotland) Bought this to replace an old bedroom TV. I have great faith in Samsung products and this has not let me down. It was easy to set up, has a good picture and was a great price.
Disappointed and returned to Amazon July 12, 2010 Mr Midnight I bought this TV from Amazon Warehouse deals as an open box item for use in our conservatory. The packaging inside the box was in a poor state and the TV had obviously been set up and used before. In order to tune the set I connected it to an existing ariel socket that gives good reception to my main TV, a Panosonic. For whatever reason this set could not receive many of the freeview channels I expected and the picture quality for the channels it did receive was poor. I returned the set to Amazon who promptly refunded my money. I have since bought a Toshiba 19'' set from Amazon Warehouse deals as an open box item which is excellent, easy to tune, gets all the channels and has amazing picture quality for a set this size.As for the Samsung I know it has had good reviews from many satisfied customers so maybe I was just unlucky with this particular set. Overall I can't fault Amazon on their level of service.
Great tv for the money July 7, 2010 L. ELLWOOD (Blackpool UK) Very good picture. In my very bright Kitchen it copes with the glare from large patio doors.
A good TV of its kind.... July 1, 2010 Royston Vazey Bought this (built-in Freeview) telly for our bedroom to replace an old CRT telly and separate Freeview box set up, the box of which had died. This one hit a good bangs per buck point for us and looks good on the dressing table.
It attracts dust to its shiny black finish, but comes with a microfibre cloth to help keep it under control. It should come with a decent lead to connect it to an external source like DVD player or Sat TV box, but it doesn't. The supplied phono leads left me distinctly underwhelmed. If you want to connect it to something like an upscaling DVD player, make sure you order an HDMI lead with it if you haven't got one aleady. You won't regret it.
What bugs me about flat screen tellies is the marketing implication of how good the picture is over old technology CRT screens. From a standard definition Freeview signal, I have yet to see a picture on a flat screen that is more comortable to watch than on an equivalent-sized (decent make) CRT screen. I know this is heresy to consumer electronics industry, but there is less viewing angle, contrast and luminance on LCD tellies, outlines can frequently appear jagged (check out letters with diagonal or curved lines on teletext,) and finding a colour/brightness balance that leaves your typical newsreader not suffering from octogenerian jaundice or a sunbed attack is a real struggle.
Fourtunatly I have been able to find an acceptable balance for me on this screen, but the brightness is turned full up to achieve this, which doesn't feel like it should be the default setting. Consequently, pale tones can appear bleached out even though the picture still feels less bright than out old CRT set.
Flat screens only really earn their corn when showing an HD signal, for which you need an HD source. And that folks is how they persuade you to buy yet another bit of kit you never knew you needed. At this screen size, I doubt you'd appreciate the extra pixel density unless you were sitting at computer monitor viewing distance, which sounds uncomortable unless you're working.
Overall, I am happy with it. I just wanted and expected to be happier.
