Have had this product for about 3weeks I gotta say I am really impressed. If you've had Sky+ or Sky HD then you have everything you need to install this system quickly and simply. Unplug your Sky, plug in the Satellite cables and you're all done bar plugging it into the power and connecting it to your TV.
Pros:
One off fee (no more feeding R.Murdoch's pension fund).
Free HD channels - BBC's Natures Great Events looks awesome.
Huge capacity harddrive.
Backup of harddrive - haven't tried this yet.
Able to turn the unit into a full media playback centre including mp3 playback.
Niggles:
Remote is large and if you've been using Sky is not quite as simple.
Not all Freeview Channels are available on FreeSat, usually due to some kinda lock in's with Sky. (Not a product fault, just the way it is).
EPG is more extensive but can be slower in comparison to Sky.
One additional thing some ppl have complained about is the start time (about 15 to 20 seconds) can't say it really bothers me and I think 30 seconds is very exaggerated at least with the most up to date firmware

A superb piece of equipment - gives far better quality briiliantcolour video pictures even in standard quality definition than a Skybox, with very good sound reproduction too. Very easy to operated, once the instructions in the guide manual are followed. Clear, precise on screen displays. Many interesting channels, apart from the normal BBC, ITV and 4 and 5 channels. A very good purchase- no gripes at all!

Very early days with this as have bought as a replacement for a faulty Grundig Freesat + 500gb model. This means I can compare the two. First impressions are that this is in a different league to the grundig. It looks far better put together - very slick finish. The grundig was like having a Harrier jump jet in the living room whereas the Humax is totally silent (quieter than sky+). The remote is classy but is taking me a while to get used to (the sky remote is so easy to use). I am sure I will get used to it but it lost a star for this reason only. It has great features like the USB ports front and back to archive recordings and put pictures etc onto the HDD. Picture quality in SD and HD are excellent - I am watching it on a 46" Sony 1080P TV. Set up was intuitive and fast. Overall if you want a quality product this ticks all the boxes.

I ordered the Humax SDR it stated that it was being delived on the 3rd of febuary it is now the 2nd of march I have phoned 7 times to the shippers and amazon no help and no refund no humax I am now at a loss of what to do
